Christmas 2008

We had a great Christmas again this year. It was nice and white. We enjoyed some sun in California, but Christmas is always better for me in the snow!!! The kids slept in this year. Peyton officially slept through the night for the fist time, what a present to me!!! He woke up about 6:30 and the other two about 7:30.

Thank goodness for videos. We can remember all the excitement for years to come.

Stockton loved his star wars toys. (so did his dad) He and Andy played star wars all morning.
Abby always has such a joyful look on her face. It is fun to watch her open presents.
Petyon loved the basketball hoop. He was dunking before we even showed him what to do.
Abby got some doll house furniture, little pet shop club house and some pets, some barbies and princess polly pockets, some fingernail polish and sparkly lip gloss. And a few other things.Grandma Haskell made them all little blankets to cuddle with while she and grandpa go on their mission to Boston.
Peyton didn't get a whole lot. It is hard to buy a lot of new toys for him when there are already so many hand me downs from the other two. He got a basketball hoop, an elmo farm, several small teething toys and some stuffed animals.
Stockton had a theme Christmas. He got all Star Wars stuff. He got a whole bunch of action figures, three aircrafts, and two light sabers. He also got the whole series on DVD, as well as a few non star wars odds and ends.
Thanks to everyone who sent us money and gifts. Going to Disneyland and Sea World was part of our Christmas this year, so we used the money towards that. We had a great Christmas and know that we are so fortunate to be able to enjoy everything that we had. Thank you to all our generous relatives who give us so much! We hope to teach the kids to appreciate and have gratitude for all they are so lucky to get.

The Haskells California Adventure!

We had a great time in California. It was a busy week. I am doing a huge post to try and share what we did. I will post more wedding pictures soon. But with Christmas tomorrow I thought I better get these put on now.

Driving the trains

We had to get this picture!

Ariel is Abby's favorite!

Jasmine was really nice and sang "Twinkle, twinkle" with Abby.

Padowan in training.

Fighting Darth Mal
Watching the new bride and groom come out of the temple

Staying warm waiting for Justin and Leslie to come out

Getting ready to race some waves

Peyt was having a great time playing with this pop can in the sand.
(Why do they even make baby toys?)
Working on a sand castle
At sea world with our cousins.

Trying to warm up at our hotel

We had planned to go to Disneyland on wednesday, but there was a monsoon going on outside. All the lines would have been short, but it would have been miserable for the kids. So we just kind of hung out for that day. The next day we went to Sea World. The kids had a great time and especially liked the shows. Peyton loved the penguins. He wanted to jump through the glass and get them.

On Friday was the big wedding day. We took the kids to the beach in the morning and then got ready and went to the temple. They loved the water, even though it was freezing cold. They ran in and out and had a great time. The temple was really nice. It was a little chilly, and Abby and Peyton both fell asleep on the way there. Our friend Amber Welker came and watched all the kids while we were inside. I was glad to hear when we came out that the kids stayed asleep the whole time to make it a little easier for her. We got a few group pictures before everyone got too cold. Then we went to a yummy mexican place for the wedding dinner.

Saturday we woke up early and headed back to try disney land again. It was a lot nicer day. We had a great time. It was busy, but do-able. We ran out of time before we could do everything we would have wanted to, but all in all, it was a wonderful day and the kids had a great time. Stockton got to be a Jedi Padowan and participate in a little star wars show. He even got to fight darth mal. Abby got to see three of her fave princesses. The kids even enjoyed some of the rides they were scared of last time.

We spent the night with my sister Myriah and her husband Jarad who came to Disneyland with us too. On sunday we went to this fun city park in LA that has a bunch of old trains. It is free and you can just wander around and look at and climb on some of the cool old steam locomotives. After that we said good bye and drove all the way home in one shot. It was pretty miserable for Peyton, but the other two did great. They all slept for the last few hours of the trip. We decided we might have to start travelling at night more often on those long trips.

Justin's Wedding

The whole Haskell clan travelled to San Diego this past week to celebrate Justin and Leslie's wedding. The San Diego Temple was beautiful and so were the bride and groom. It was a little chilly but the ceremony was nice and the day went great!

Fun Cousin Pictures

My Sister-in- Law Stacy and I went and took some fun pictures of our kids the other day. It was kind of crazy, but a great learning experience for me. I need some more practice, but I learned a lot.

The Haskells and Miss USA

We had a fun opportunity around the end of November to see Miss USA. Andy's brother Justin is the State director for Best Buddies. It is a nonprofit group that matches up people with intellectual disabilities with high school and college students for one on one friendships. It is a great program. He had a fundraiser that featured Miss USA as well as a nice dinner and fun watching the buddies and their partners dance. It was a really fun night and a nice change to dress up. And did I mention that we all got to try steamed bok choy for the first time. Some of us were more daring than others.
Miss USA, Crystal Stewart was absolutely beautiful and incredibly skinny!!! But as you can see, Peyton was not impressed at all. He loves his mama best just the way she is!!!
