Cooling Off at Salem Pond

I met up with my old Torrey friend Trish to go to Salem Pond. She has three kids, two of which are the same ages as Stockton and Abby and they love to play together. Last summer we met there a few times and let the kids play in the pond. The kids have a blast playing in the sand on the little beach and splashing in the water. The best part of it is that with Peyton, we could sit on our blanket under the shady trees and still be close enough to keep a good eye on the kids. It makes for a super fun day! (The water is a little gross, but the kids don't seem to mind. We just strip them when we get to the car and shower as soon as we get home.) This is our little area.
Peyton wasn't so sure about the whole thing. We kept cool in the shade, but he was tired and had a hard time falling asleep since we weren't at home. I pretty much had to hold him the whole day, mostly standing up as some of you well know. I did get him asleep enough to lay here for a few minutes without me.
We bring a cooler full on snacks and drinks and try to get the kids to have a few. It is kind of hard to get them out of the water long enough, but cheetos are pretty enticing.

We got these suits with the built in life jackets for our Lake Powell trip last year. They fit even better this year and did a good job of letting the kids float around safely.
